At the time of writing this page (14.1.2007) I have only read the first chapter but it is a very readable book with some good tips. It is not what I would call an ‘academics’ book but is written in a language, and style, that we can all understand.
The main purpose of the book is to reduce the ‘attrition rate’ for projects, dissertation and thesis courses by explaining the process and how to plan the process.
The book is aimed at all levels of education but has a particular relevance for first degree, masters degree and doctoral level study.
The biggest recommendation is that the O.U. use it as a set book, if it is good enough for the O.U. it is good enough for most students.
